Hey David, Alex and Ned, enjoy listening to your podcast while I'm working away in Toronto in our workshop.

Neat that you took a bit of interest in the pigeons, a little disappointed, Ned, that you didn't know who Cherami was, considering your deep knowledge of things historical. Anyhow, I hope you read up on

them. Wonderful little bird pigeons are kind of the unsung heroes of birds. And they've saved a lot of

lives over the years. The book that I mentioned to David is actually incredibly interesting,

lots of neat little

stories. Anyhow, yeah, the first tours, interestingly, were they used pigeons to relay the results

to the newspapers in Paris. So the journalists who were on the road, deep, you know, down in the

south or wherever, the fastest way to get the results of the

stage finishes back were with pigeons. So they would use messenger pigeons to get the results

back to Paris for the, so they could be printed in the newspapers the next day. And as far as,

yeah, Gerona goes, it's certainly changed since we first moved there.

I moved there in 2001.

I think George was the second rider to go, that Marty Jemison was the first after, as David said,

Johnny Welts talked them into moving there from Italy.

And soon after a few other US postal riders came, there are a few Danes from CSC who lived just outside of town in St. Gregory.

Johnny talked them into coming out as well and slowly more and more riders, mostly foreigners,

would go to Girona.

We developed a little community.

And most of the riders were seasonal.

And David and I were the only two

who really spent the year there for a good number of years.

So we had some wonderful rides through the winter. Some of my my favorite rides of all time
