Good morning, Time Trail Day at the Tour de France.

Slightly different podcast today. I thought I mixed it up a bit rather than do something in the car,

partly because after the stage there is a very short transfer from Cain to Vieux,

and so there really isn't that much time, I don't think, to do a podcast and edit it and upload and all that sort of thing in the car so I thought I'd instead just do some little bits and pieces of chat to whoever I find and try and tell you the story of the day at least a little bit from our perspective I'm standing here at the finish line it's what is it 10 o'clock what's the time 1035 in the morning of the time trial and the course has just been close to the public and the first rider has just come past fully T-Ted up doing their reconnaissance on this lovely sunny morning without a breath of wind. So a complete change in the weather as the temperatures are forecast to rise over the coming days.

And a couple more DeCathon riders just come past as well in front of me.

So they're the first team to come out on the reconnaissance.

There's some sort of laid-back music being piped down the finish line through the loudspeakers.

All the rigors, all the TV crew are doing their work, cables being laid out in their kilometres,

in this rather strangely shaped his own technique, which is kind of like shoots off in all sorts of different directions.

Our truck was very difficult to find this morning.

And on the other side of the road, across from me, I've just caught a glimpse of Daniel Freib

by the looks of it, going for a run.

Certainly look like him. That hair is pretty much unmistakable, as he does tend to go for a run

every morning, although left it a little bit late, if that is Daniel. And there's a few brands as

well who've set up their little marquise to hawk their wares and hand out pamphlets and free hats and all that sort of thing opposite me to the members of the public we've got chris the opticians who sponsored the white jersey we've got century 21 who are a tour de france sponsor i don't know why i'm telling you all this but i find it quite interesting who sponsored the prix de la combativete and they're a chain of estate agents in france and in fact, I just cycled past a branch of Century 21 in Gant,

where they've already got tables outside

and they are treating their guests to champagne first thing in the morning.

I mean a long day, they want to go easy with that.

And then there's another brand.

I don't think they sponsor any of the...

Well, they don't sponsor any of the jerseys or the prizes, I don't think. I've never seen them before at the tour. They are called biofreeze. Acion par le foie. Ciblay la Duleur. So treat your pain with, um, bio freeze ointment by the looks of it, which obviously is like Ralegex basically is. It's rebranded Ralegex for the 21st century. That's that. I don't know what else

is going to pop up in this podcast. David Miller at some point but he's going to he's gone off to go
