Bystander, a history of street photography, is in my estimation one of the most important books about the history of photography.

Though the focus is on street photography, the images and the text are really about the evolution of photography. It's been one of the most important books on my shelf, and many others have agreed with me, often paying a premium for a book that has

fallen out of print. But now, Colin Westerbeck and Joel Weyerwitz have finally released an updated

version of the book book which reflects the changing

world of street photography and
