The still image holds an amazing power over us.

It's often the singular image that often holds the power to move us, reconsider long-held

opinions, and sometimes even affect change.

Though the moving image holds much of our attention

these days, the still image maintains a unique place in our consciousness. It's that fact that

often inspires photographers to use their skills to draw attention to matters that often don't find

their way onto the headlines or 24-hour news cycles.

Street photographer and friends the show, Valerie Jardin, was so inspired when she discovered

the work of Josh Coombs.

Josh, who is a hairdresser by trade, has been offering his services to the homeless, providing

them not only an opportunity for physical transformation,

but a moment where they can enjoy some human connection and dignity.

Together, Valerie and Josh took through the streets of New York recently, and each, in their own way,

used their skills to be of service to those that too many of us simply choose to ignore.
