A lot of photographers are self-taught.

They teach themselves how to use a camera, how to use software, and if they're dutiful,

they come to develop a unique style and approach to photography.

But the next question is, what do you do with all that?

Some of us pursue careers as professional photographers while others

look for outlets in the fine art world. And if they can find a community that helps to nurture

and encourage their creativity, they're happy. Today's guest, Jaime Abara, found his journey as a

photographer being shaped by the interest and curiosity that other photographers

had in his work. Like many, he was posting his images online, and people began asking themselves

and each other, how does he do this? How does he make these amazing photographs? He saw a lot of

theories that attempted to answer those questions,

but as he readily admits, most of them were wrong. And it was in that space that he saw an

opportunity to share his approach and his technique with others. This provided him a wonderful

opportunity to pursue his own personal vision and passion without the restrictions of typical commercial work.

He was able to create what he wanted to create and the only person he had to satisfy was himself.
