That's one of the fascinating things about this show,

is that I get to discover the different paths and choices that each photographer is made

to get where they are.

We often just see the end result, be it an exhibition, a book,

or for some, a certain level of fame. But between the moment of picking up the camera for the first time to where they are today,

the photographer has made so many choices that lead to their creative life. Ron Lyons is a

photographer whose career has had many iterations, beginning from

his first forays into photography while serving in Vietnam to his time as a freelance

photojournalist and editor. Now he is the Photography Journalism Department Chair, an associate

professor of photography at Los Angeles Valley College in Southern California, as well as an avid street photographer.

Rod is a man who has been led by his passions. Some people think that following one's passion in life is a brave choice,

something that they wish they had the courage to make for themselves. But for some, maybe even you, it's not about a choice.

It's just who you are.
