Summary

New York artist Xiomáro (SEE-oh-MAH-ro) breathes life into iconic American figures and historical events to make them relevant in the 21st century. After recovering from cancer, he transitioned from a varied career as a musician, entertainment industry attorney and artist manager into the field of art photography. Inspired by the example of photographers like Eadweard Muybridge, Carleton Watkins and Ansel Adams, he seeks to create artistic images that also promote the appreciation, conservation and visitation of America’s parks and historical sites. Xio is frequently commissioned by the National Park Service. His career began as an Artist-in-Residence at Connecticut's Weir Farm National Historic Site ,where he is now a Visiting Artist. His collections are exhibited nationally at institutions like Harvard University and have been purchased for permanent art collections such as the one at Brigham Young University in Utah. Xio’s work has been covered by The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Fine Art Connoisseur and many other newspapers, magazines, radio programs and internet sources. http://www.xiomaro.com/ Artist in Residence: http://www.nps.gov/wefa/supportyourpark/artist-in-residence-program.htm Weir Farm National Historic Site: http://www.nps.gov/wefa The New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/07/nyregion/cameras-unusual-look-at-theodore-roosevelts-home.html The Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ramon-nuez/speaking-with-photographe_b_3935017.html Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/xiomaro Twitter: https://twitter.com/xiomarophoto Short Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EgDlUAohZ4 Miroslav Tichy: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/12/arts/design/12photos.html

I've been on a tear as of late, scheduling and conducting interviews for release in the coming weeks, and it's really been exciting. Photography is changing. The market for photography is changing. The equipment is changing all at this blistering pace.

But what doesn't change is the creativity and the imagination that makes

0:55.4

photography so special for me. Not only am I seeing it with the guests that I'm interviewing

1:01.0

for the show, but I'm also seeing it with the fans of the Candid Frame who are contributing

1:06.0

images to the Candid Frame Flickr Group. I really love spending time in there, seeing some amazing

1:12.6

imagery from people who just love making photographs. With the YouTube videos that I'm releasing

1:19.1

each Thursday, I have a great opportunity to showcase some of those images and to talk about

1:24.3

different topics and ideas revolving around photography.

1:28.9

So if you haven't checked it out, just visit the Candid Frame Group on Flickr and subscribe to the YouTube channel as well.

I'll have links for both on the show notes as well as on the blog.

Now, one of the things that I like about seeing new work is discovering new ways of

1:48.7

seeing. I especially love it when I find a photographer who shoots in a particular genre

1:55.0

photography and completely makes it his or her own. Today's guest, Ziamoro, is doing just that with his work

2:03.9

documenting historical sites, including the home of our 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt.

2:10.3

Now, architectural photography is a great opportunity for photographers to play with line, shape,

2:16.7

and lighting, and to capture the vision of another

2:19.5

artist such as an architect or an interior designer. Their images are used to express visually

2:25.3

the thought and detail that went into a site's construction or design. But Cia Moros,

images take it a step further and result in images that are infused with
