On this, the feast of our lady, help of Christians.

Not a coincidence as you texted me.

No, the patron saint of the patron of China.

And Chinese Catholics love, or they call her our lady of Shishon, which is where the pilgrimage is,

but also our Lady of Help of Christians.

And tell us what's happening today, not just on anniversary terms, but literally in real time today.

In real time today, Cardinal Joseph Zend, the beloved, beloved, brave, bold, devoted son of China,

son of the Catholic Church in China, was in court today.

He's been charged under the new national security law with colluding with foreign forces.

He went into court today. He was arrested on May 11th.

In court, his first court date, he pled not guilty and was given a trial date of September 19th.

Also not ironically, the day after the signing of the first China-Vatican deal, which was September 18th, 2018. So Dear Cardinal Zen, like many others, is facing the

show trial in the new, unfree Hong Kong.

And it's a very serious sobering day for the church in China.

And one of the things you and I are talking about off the air is previously, Christians in China have always been used to persecution.

Catholics especially have been used to

great persecution, but they've always had the support of the Vatican. This is what is going to be
