Looking forward to today's chat, Daniel. So first and foremost, do me a solid. Introduce yourself here to the Brian Nichol show audience. Tell us a little bit about your story. How'd you get into the

world of politics, all that and more?

Sure.

Well, my name is Daniel Betts.

I'm running for Congress here in Texas' 21st Congressional District.

As far as background, I'm an attorney.

I'm a trial attorney and specifically a criminal defense attorney.

So I've been doing that for 15 years.

I came down to Texas in 2007 to come here

for law school. I went to UT Law, University of Texas School of Law for those who are not in Texas.

And I've been practicing for 15 years in central Texas. I try a lot of jury cases. So I get in front

of people and try to do convincing on behalf of my clients. Oftentimes my clients don't give me a lot of jury cases, so I get in front of people and try to do convincing on behalf

of my clients. Oftentimes my clients don't give me a lot of cards to play with because

I'm a criminal defense attorney. And so it's in that context that I do a lot of good negotiation

and a lot of winning in trial. I don't think I've lost in trial in 10 years. And so I want to bring that to the constituents
