For Inside Carolina, this is Taylor Vipolis, and new this football season, I'll be hosting my own show released weekly on Tuesdays talking about Carolina football.

I'll have some solo segments, take questions from fans, have former players on, just trying something new here and hope you enjoy the end product.

So I was out this past week on vacation and missed the news of Cade Fort and transferring,

so I just wanted to talk about that first. My first thought is, no, I wouldn't be panicking right now

if I was a UNC fan. And that's because it's unrealistic to think you could have three quarterbacks

separated by just two classes who can all be

power five starters right now on the same team. And that's what Carolina had with Kate Fortin,

J.S. Ruter, and Sam Howe. So to me, it doesn't come as a shock that one of them was going to

leave. And I even mentioned in my season preview article that it very

well could happen before the season started. The timing of the move is so now Fortin will miss

this year as a sit-out year and then be eligible for whatever school he transfers to next year.

The bottom line is Cade Fortin made a business decision. Transfers are a part of the game, so you can't criticize Cade Fortin for doing something

he sees best for himself, while at the same time praising players who transfer to UNC,

like Kyler McMichael from Clemson and like Bryce Watts from Virginia Tech.

And at the same time, if you complain about Fortin leaving,

are you also complaining about when Carolina tells players to find somewhere else to play?

It's just in my opinion, it's a tough two-way street where as much as some fans and coaches don't like to hear it, the NCAA is still a business at the end of the day.

There's sound from Coach Longo and his press conference from Monday where he mentioned he didn't think the portal was a good idea.

The transfer portal was a good idea.

So I'm going to play that now.
