MacArthur named its latest crop of fellows. These are the people who are more commonly called the

Genius Grant recipient. So they get a bunch of money to do geniusy things for five years.

50 grand a year, $250,000 in total. And they come from all different fields, all different walks of

life. This is always an impressive list. This year being no exception, but there's one person on it who we are particularly excited about.

Turns out this is actually only the second comic book artist in the history of the MacArthur Foundation fellowships to receive one of these genius grants.

But it is Allison Bechdel, who we've actually talked about quite a bit on the show before.

The Bechdel Test, if you remember, is something that stemmed from a comic she wrote, not some

giant academic paper, a comic she wrote called Dykes to Watch Out for.

Set up the premise for the Bechdale Test, which is, does a film or TV show have at least

two named female characters? Do they talk to each other? And is it about something other

than a man? So congratulations to Alison Beckdale. We would love to nerd out with her on this show soon.
