Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck, with the five things you need to know for Thursday, July 31st.

It's deadline day for countries wanting to make a deal with the U.S. before steeper tariffs come into effect tomorrow.

So far, we've seen the EU, the UK, Japan, South Korea, and other nations, come to a trade agreement,

or in some cases, a framework to come up with an agreement.

But there are still a lot of questions and pushback around some of those deals.

While things are still up in the air with economic powerhouses, Canada and China,

meaning President Donald Trump can't quite declare victory just yet.

And he says he won't extend the deadline. Today also marks the start of another possible problem for

Trump, a court case to decide whether his tariffs are legal. We asked CNN's Elizabeth Buckwold for the

details. Yeah, Joe, so it's a really interesting day for this to kick off.

And what's happening is this is the start of an appeal of a decision that a lower court had,

which found that Trump overreached his legal authority to impose tariffs on specific countries

using the rationale of emergency economic powers. Now, this doesn't impact the specific sectors that he's imposed tariffs on.

He's used a different rationale there.

So we could still see a slew of tariffs still in place and still ones that he can put in place in the future,

no matter what this decision is.

Americans support for Israel's military actions in Gaza is dropping rapidly.

And it's prompting pro-Israel Democrats and some of President Trump's long-time allies

to warn that the country could permanently damage its standing in the U.S.

A Gallup poll released this week found that just 32% of American adults support Israel's

military actions in Gaza, a record low since the start of the war, after the Hamas terror attacks.

And on Monday, Trump went against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's weekend claim that
