It is Friday. It is the first day of August, and according to President Trump, it is a great day for America. Today is Tariff Day. At midnight, reciprocal tariffs went into effect on countries that have not yet secured a trade deal with the U.S.

Since taking office, the president has been very vocal about making trade deals and using tariffs as a tool to bring production back into the U.S. You will recall that Trump imposed a baseline 10%

tariffs on nations across the globe back in April.

Trump also announced that reciprocal tariffs could be as high as 50%.

Then the president announced a 90-day pause on those reciprocal tariffs for all nations,

with the exception of China.

Well, that 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs ended at midnight.

So now many countries are

facing a much higher rate than that 10% baseline on goods that are imported into the U.S.

Some countries have already reached a deal with the U.S. before that 90-day window closed.

And one of the biggest deals was with the European Union.

The European Union agreed to a tariff rate of 15%. That 15% tariff will be imposed on cars,

auto parts, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, just to name a few things. A 50% tariff is going to stay in
