Hello, if you use Microsoft apps like Outlook or Teams in your life, then Wednesday morning

start off very quiet because there was a big outage that affected tens of thousands of

users all across the world, including in the UK.

So we thought we'd set up a quick Teams call to see how that all went.

Let's dial up a newscaster who was affected by the outage.

Hi Adam, this is Charlotte Holdcroft from the University of Cambridge.

We use Teams and Outlook a lot, particularly to communicate with students.

And the first sign that something had gone wrong today was when I woke up and there were

no emails waiting for me.

So I've had to rearrange some teaching with students from Teams to another platform and

I'm also waiting for a barrage of emails to come through later when everything gets

back to normal.

So what was behind it all?

It's about quarter past four in the afternoon and if you had problems logging onto Teams

or Outlook or Xbox Live this morning then you're probably alright by now because the issue

appears to have been resolved.

Microsoft said it was due to a wide ranging network router issue at its end.
