Turn to Isaiah chapter 6 please. We're continuing a series on words. It's called the

wealth of a word. How much is a word worth? And how important are our words? And so that's what we're talking about and today we're going to talk about taming the tongue.

That's the title of the message. If you remember we talked a while back about God's the only one that can the tongue, but do we have any responsibility?

And we're learning the language, even the language of heaven, but even English, we're learning

English.

I was reminded that because I got some letters from some small children here in the church a while back and they were inviting me to a pastor's appreciation night at their school.

And I was reading some of the letters and they're from these young children and just kind of reminded me that even English

We're you know we're still learning the language and how to communicate and just read you one of the letters please Please come to our pastor's appreciation night.

We have spaghetti and blankets.

Now that's a pretty good deal, you know?

If you can get a blanket with your spaghetti and then he wrote me a little

PS at the end of the letter please come it's the last thing in my life I'm

living for.

Well, how do we learn the language and how do we learn to say what we should say, when we should say it, and the way we should say it, and how do we tame our tongue?

Obviously again, I want to remind you, the Bible says that no man can tame the tongue, but because of that, does that mean then

that since God's going to tame my tongue, does that mean I don't have any responsibility?

Does that mean that I don't have to try to control my tongue or control what I say.

Absolutely not.

We have a responsibility.

As a matter of fact, let me tell you what your responsibility is.

Your responsibility is to bridle your tongue so God can tame it.
