We are now seeing some of the first polling about how the American public views President Trump's second term so far.

0:07.3

For that and the other political headlines of the day, we turn to our Politics Monday duo.

0:11.6

That's Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter and Tamara Keith of NPR.

0:16.3

Hello, hello.

0:17.0

Hello.

0:17.4

So President Trump has started his term with net positive marks from Americans overall.

0:22.1

That's according to a new CBS News UGov poll.

0:25.2

He's got a 53% approval rating, and many of his policies have majority support, like immigration,

0:31.2

his handling of the situation in Gaza.

0:33.5

1:16.1

but with a certain amount of benefit of the doubt from the other side.

1:22.3

1:28.9

weren't that high. They were somewhere in the low 50s, but his disapproval ratings were like

1:33.5

eight. This is 47%. So there is a dug-in opposition to Donald Trump. That's why the number that's

1:43.1

going to be the most important i think going

1:45.2

forward is looking at whether that opposition to him grows rather than looking just at his

1:52.5

approval rating number yeah another important number in this poll tam is that 66% of respondents
