    We are going to talk about the stages of change model. And the reason I really wanted to talk about

    this model is that for me, it's given me a way to look at the change process and to be able to understand how change takes place in us and how we move through that process. Because when we're working with addiction,

    that's what we're trying to do. We're trying to change, right? We're trying to change our life.

    We're trying to change the things around us. And I think this model gives us an ability to look at that.

    Yeah, I think it gives us an objective ability, almost like a roadmap kind of feeling that, you know,

    you know which stage you're in to a certain extent. We'll also touch on the limitations

    later on as well because it's not perfect, but it's definitely a great launching point and a

    great way to look at addiction and change. Absolutely. So the stages of change model was developed in the early 1980s by James

    Purchaska and Carlo de Clemente. And the reason this kind of came about is that they were doing a

    study around smoking and stopping smoking.

    And when they did that study, they realized that people go through a predictable set of stages as they make that change. And what's happened with that model is that it's from that study about stopping smoking, it's been
