We're excited to welcome a certified Christian sex therapist today.

Carissa Curtis is a Missouri licensed professional counselor who works with individuals and

couples dealing with relationship difficulties, sexual intimacy issues, and more. But she also has

passion for helping parents and other mentors speak effectively and biblically to kids about sex.

And that's why she's here today at our virtual kitchen table. Welcome, Carissa. Yeah, I'm glad to be

here. It's, it's really an honor. Let's just dive right in with what are some of the reasons why we struggle to talk to kids about sex?

So I think the easy answer is lack of knowledge, lack of information, like, you know, not knowing how to talk effectively and when's the right timing for these kinds of conversations or like what's appropriate to say to kids at what age and how far do you go?

So there's a lot of like just not knowing.

The solution to that is gain knowledge and off you go.

In my experience, the more true answer to that question is really our own discomfort with the topic.

And really like the fear, the fear of if I say this, like, how are they going to take it?

And are they going to just going to have a sexualized mind and where is this going to go?

That's the more difficult answer because that requires us as adults, parents, leaders,

mentors to do our own personal work on the topic. Because even if we know all the right

information, if we have like a lot of shame and discomfort, that's going to come out in how we say things and how far
