I shine you shine Tonight, we are not welcoming a performer.

We're welcoming a voice that refuses erasure, a voice that asks the hard questions,

a voice that reminds us that joy, accountability, creativity, and resistance can coexist, and a voice for a just world.

I feel like my phone is going to die, so I'm jotting down my notes real quick.

While I'm jotting these notes down, I want you to just ask yourselves, what makes somebody a leader?

Because we went from voting people to represent us to calling them leaders.

And I'm like, no, we're the leaders.

They are representing us. They are following our lead.

That is the dynamic that should be the case.

However, we have found ourselves in a flip of the switch where we are constantly running behind people reminding them of what they have promised to get into position.

With no mechanisms to put in place to remove them where those promises not kept.

However, that's not simply just taking place on a civics level.

I feel like that's become just the mark of America, of the United States.

You know, our sister was talking to us about, Dr. Lauren Long was talking to us about grounding, education.

She said, education must disrupt complacency.
