Theme Music The theme music for Life in the Peloton was composed by Pete Shelley, who was lead singer of the punk band Buzzcocks. It was commissioned by the production company behind Channel 4’s coverage of the Tour de France in the 1980s and was used as the theme music for the nightly highlights show. Pete died in December 2018. We were given permission by Pete’s widow and his manager to continue using the music for the theme tune to Life in the Peloton. 0:00.0	But it's weird how the Giro, every year you come back to it, you don't think, oh,
0:26.0	it's easy because I've done one.
0:27.4	Yeah.
0:27.8	I mean, I suppose like when you're kind of at the pinnacle of the sport in a given type of race,
0:34.8	whether it's, you know, Roubaix or Flanders or the Giro or tour, the level's

0:40.9	So there's never that feeling of like you're easing off a bit.
0:44.6	But it's kind of like you say, like now if you go from a grand tour to like a 2.1 level you know, level stage race, you can see that it's not the same.
0:59.8	And in general, I think the level, and you can probably speak to this as well, like, I think
1:04.9	in the last four or five years, the level is like continually gone up and up.
1:08.5	Also, what I've noticed is that I actually feel that the style of racing in the
1:14.1	world tour is actually going more back to kind of like junior style racing.

1:18.2	As to say, I mean, now it, sometimes it takes 80 or 90K for the break to go.
1:23.5	It's like nonstop attacking.
1:25.3	It's fast all day.
1:26.7	It's not this kind of like controlled.
1:29.3	I have the feeling that, you know, like the pro races before were almost like a bit more gentleman's agreement in some regards.
1:50.1	Yeah. Well, good-a-day, everyone.
