So the question that's been raging lately on the Lutheran Twitter sphere has been Can Girls Teach?

It's an interesting question because it's not a Lutheran question.

It's one that's been really facing the whole church for, man, how far back you go centuries.

But certainly, in the last 50 years, can girls teach has been in the forefront of

what's happening in our Christian churches. And the reason we're going to talk about it today is that

in part that's not actually the right form of the question. The right form of the question is

May girls teach. But before we can answer that, we have to answer a few predicate questions to define our terms.

The first is, what is a girl? What is a woman?

Where did they come from? What are they for?

And then once we understand that, we can address the question, what is teaching?

So, Corey, what is a girl?

Well, a girl is defined, in part you could define a girl as in contrast to a man.

And what a girl is is a helpmeet. Woman is made for man, not man for woman, as scripture very clearly states.

And so woman is made in Genesis 1.

Of course, we have the more elaborate detail later on in Genesis, but we have in Genesis 127. So God created man in his own

image. In the image of God, he created them. Male and female, he created them. And of course, we'll get to

some of the grammar and such there a little bit later, but the whole purpose of a girl is to help her husband.

Before she has a husband, it's to help her family.
