Anyway, we're seeing a renaissance of shows starring featuring written or produced by people of color,

and Kenya Barris is a big part of that renaissance. He's the creator and executive producer of ABC's

hit comedy, Blackish. Before Jeane went on vacation, the two sat down to talk about the show and the

TV landscape.

I'm curious as to how you navigate the jokes on the show that are, as you would call them,

deep cuts for Black folks, right? With an audience that is 75 percent white.

And I'm curious about how you, in the writer's room, how you all decide.
