Now, if you haven't seen Alien Covenant our discussion will inevitably spoil it at least

from a plot surprise perspective but what I would point out is that it is

actually very difficult to spoil the plot of an alien film because if you think about it, you already know what's going to happen.

That's one of the upsides and downsides of a monster movie. The other side of the coin is our discussion

might just unspoil it if you are prepared to give up a little plot surprise for

some additional context going in, especially as this episode roams far and wide

over the presence of ancient alien theory or AAT in popular culture. It is a fantastic chat. Enjoy.

Nice one. Well, uh, well, let's get this out of the way. You saw a film this weekend. So Chris, Alien Covenant, what did you think?

Incredibly disappointed. I could sort of see where they wanted to go with this whole thing but it just felt like there was a committee sitting at a table, taking suggestions for plot points, and shoe on them into the film

without really

Scott is a fabulous visual director but I really got the sense that he was not engaged with this material at all,

that this was his contractual obligation album, so to speak, and that he really wanted to make Prometheus too and was not able to.

Interesting. So I mean I was going to put that up there as a separate thing to Prometheus which is I do think you see more of Ridley in Prometheus which I when I wrote about it I think is a better film but I like that type of stuff. Yeah, it is a better film but I like that kind of stuff.

Yeah, it is a better film, definitely.
