Summary

We can’t believe we haven’t done an episode on this before, but we’re finally talking about periods!

To help cover this topic, I brought on Nadya Okamoto, founder of August, a company focused on inclusivity, sustainability, and creating period products without shame, founder of PERIOD, an organization fighting to end period poverty and stigma, and author of Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement. She also hosts the podcasts The Period Feels and Tigress.

(This episode was recorded before the SCOTUS news was released, we’re including some ways to support reproductive rights down in the show notes!)

You can Find Nadya at @nadyaokamoto on Instagram and @nadyaokamoto on Tik Tok.

Some organizations working to end period poverty:

Dignity Grows - a national provider of free comprehensive hygiene essentials paired with period products and distributed in a discreet fashion.

Lowcountry Period Project - a South Carolina-based org provides period products, education, and advocates for menstrual equity, working to end the luxury tax on menstrual hygiene products.

Period - distributes free menstrual products to communities in need and advocates for systematic change through policy and legislation.

Check out the National Network of Abortion Funds to support local, independent, abortion funds across the U.S.. You can find a list of funds roughly ordered by how dire the situation in their respective states is, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights’ “What If Roe Fell?” report here.

personal care brand Megababab a few years ago to solve real problems with cute solutions.

0:11.6

Even though I founded the brand, I am not qualified to do every single job, which is why I hire

0:15.9

wonderful people like our customer service wizard, Britt. I've brought Britt on here to help answer a question.

0:22.6

Hi, Britt. Hey, Katie. All right, Britt. Go ahead. Bonnie said she's a super sweaty girl and she asked how

0:29.5

we can help with sweat that's showing through her clothes. Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie, have I got some

0:34.9

answers for you? We have several different solutions, starting with our

0:38.6

bust dust, which is a hands-free way to apply our telk-free powder into your bra. You just literally

0:45.5

pump it in there. It was the second product that we launched with. We also have our dust puff,

0:50.5

which helps making apply powder to your body really easy because it helps with the mess.

0:57.1

It also puts the powder on really evenly.

0:59.8

Our dust puff is kind of awesome.

1:02.0

And if you're not into powder, we actually have a cool product called magic powder.

1:07.3

I know it says powder in the name, but it's actually a lotion.

1:10.6

You apply it in a thin layer and it dries with a powder finish.

1:14.5

I put it right under my boobs and sometimes under my butt cheeks.

1:18.2

It's awesome.

1:19.7

And don't forget, we also have body dust, which is the same great formula as our bust dust,

1:24.9

but with a different applicator.

1:26.5

So if you're not a fan of the pump,

1:27.9

this comes with the sprinkle applicator so you can easily apply it anywhere that you experience

1:32.4

sweat throughout the day. Britt, you're right. Body dust. Of course, duh. Thank you so much for
