The biblical perspective on knowledge contrasts sharply with the modern idea that knowledge is power.

In the Bible, the story of Adam and Eve illustrates how seeking knowledge on one's own terms, eating from the tree of knowledge, leads to punishment and separation from God.

It suggests that humans are better off in a state of innocence, trusting God's authority instead of pursuing independent understanding.

Proverbs 3.5 through 6 reinforces this.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Here, blind trust in divine authority is upheld as the ideal.

On the other hand, the modern principle of knowledge is power celebrates curiosity in the pursuit of understanding.

Born from the Enlightenment, it rejects the

notion that ignorance is virtuous, viewing knowledge as essential for progress, empowerment, and

freedom. This perspective challenges the idea that trust without question is a virtue, arguing

instead that ignorance limits our potential. These opposing views raise thought-provoking questions.

Is blind trust the safest path?
