We've reached a place in our calendar year where I think many of us are beginning to feel like it's time to sit down with a professional counselor.

So I'd like to read for you a passage from the Code of Ethics for the American Association of Christian Counselors.

It states, Jesus Christ and his revelation in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible as the inspired word of God

is the preeminent model for Christian counseling practice, ethics, caregiving activities,

and the final authority for all matters about which it speaks.

Later in that same page, it reads,

The biblical and constitutional rights to religious freedom, free speech, and free association protect Christian counselors'

public identity, and the explicit incorporation of spiritual practices into all forms of counseling

and intervention.

I'm not going to give you any commentary.

I'm just going to say that from the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics,

it reads,

counselors have a responsibility to the public to engage in counseling practices that are based on rigorous research methodologies.

If you are looking for mental health support this holiday season, first, know the damn

difference between these two ideas.
