I hope you've survived the rush and are ready to enjoy some downtime with family and friends.

Everyone has their own traditions around the holidays, and in my household, we're no different.

Sure, there's putting up the tree, hanging stockings, drinking cocoa around the fire, and all those things are great.

But my favorite Christmas activity that I think I talk about every year around this time is the tradition of the Christmas Eve ghost story.

Other than Halloween, I don't think there's any time of year that's so full of haunted and harrowing tales.

There's just something almost mesmerizing about the contrast between the twinkly festive joy of

the holidays and the darkness and despair of some of the longest nights of the year.

The Christmas holidays have some pretty heavy pagan influences, too,
