We have a pair of tales for you tonight.

First, a couple searches for a cure to their son's

illness, but may lose their minds in the process. Then, a man struggles to survive in a starving

neighborhood that's turned to desperate measures. Our first story comes from Corey Farrenkopf.

Music Verify Original. The swamp swallowed time. Rue couldn't remember if it had been days or weeks swallowed time.

Rue couldn't remember if it had been days or weeks since she and Tom waited into the knee-high slurry,

squelching muck eternally sucking at their heels.

The shallow waters stretched to the horizon.

Clumps of reeds and dead, barpless trees divided the otherwise

bleak uniformity. Their village used the swamp's edge as a burial ground. The dense, muddy bottom

devoured anything left long enough on its surface. At least, that's what the villagers told themselves.
