We've got one last stop in Manitoba before continuing our cross-country trek, a place that not

only spawned one of the oldest ghost stories in the province, but is also named after it.

Officially, the little municipality a stone's throw from the western edge of Winnipeg,

is called St. Francois Xavier, but locally, it's better known as White Horse Plain.

Before the Europeans began to spread out across the land, claiming it for their own, the region

was home to the Assiniboian, Cree, and Sioux nations.

It was fertile land, and a popular stop for the herds of buffalo that roamed the Great
