Welcome to the second of our four episodes featuring Stoker Award nominees for the category of superior achievement and short fiction.

Before that, though, you know I'm a movie fan.

I'm not quite sure if I'd consider myself a movie buff or a connoisseur,

but I really do enjoy movies. When the Cannes Movie Festival comes around, I do try to keep my ear to the ground for anything that might be making some noise there, particularly if it's from

our beloved genre of horror. Michael Hanakey's happy end is making one of those stirrings.

I've linked to a brief write-up by Alyssa Wilkinson on Vox about the movie.

In it, she writes, that the film does expect the audience to pay attention

and put some pieces together themselves, which I like.

If you want to see a great example of that sort of cinema

that might be a bit more accessible

currently than a film that's being screened at can, I'd encourage you to check out

Under the Skin starring Scarlet Johansson.

I'll be keeping an eye out for my ability to see Happy End subtitled in English since it's a French

film, and I hope you do too.

Sounds like it'll be a scream.
