Thank you for joining me again as we continue our summer vacation south.

Well, funny that I should say that because we've got a bit west and, well, a bit north.

There's a particular piece of West Virginia that I wanted to touch, and that would be Quiet Dell, West Virginia.

We had a story last week titled Bluebeard, and the man of this real life story was called by the same name, the Bluebeard of Quiet Del.

Quiet Del had been the home of a fellow born in the Netherlands in 1892 with the name of

Herman Drenth. His name later became Harry Powers. He had met a woman named

Luella Struthers through the precursor to online dating, the Lonely Hearts advertisements

in the magazine of the same name. They became married, however, Powers would take out advertisements

of his own in an attempt to gain more money. Now, in my admittedly

cursory research to add to the bit I already knew about this story, his legal wife, Luella Struthers,

is only mentioned anywhere that I could read about powers in this sense. They met through an

advertisement, became married, and no further mention of her.

If one of you children of the night happened to have more details, this is one that I've missed and it's driven me nuts.
