Summary

This week, an encore of one of our favorite New Tech City episodes ever: The tale of David Joerg, self-professed tech addict.

David spent years living the life many kids can only dream of: video games at 3 a.m., Nutella from the jar, unlimited hours clicking from one piece of tech news to the next.

Running on three hours of sleep per night, he became, in his words, “a zombie.” He decided it had to stop - so he put his techie mind to work, and built a system that totally cut him off. Spoiler: It involves his daughter's piggy bank.

1:12.0	Who stays up too late. Who stays up too late.
1:15.0	So I stay up too late. I've been doing it for a long time.
1:18.0	After the kids would go to bed. I would finally have time to do what I want to do. And usually, past few years, that's been video games.
1:26.0	Like a lot of video games.
1:29.0	For a while, it was World of Warcraft long ago until I quit that cold turkey. Warcraft 3, Starcraft War Strategy Game is trying to beat them.
1:38.0	If he wasn't doing that, he was reading online.
1:40.0	Interesting stuff, hacker news, slash.dig, stuff for nerds.
1:45.0	And he'd stay up late.
1:47.0	Really late. Never wanted to go to sleep. Never wanted to go to sleep.
1:50.0	But now that I'm grown up, I can finally live the dream. And this is embarrassing to talk about.
1:54.0	Sometimes I get a tub in Nutella, some crackers, maybe a bottle of port.
2:00.0	Sometimes one of the three, sometimes all three, get the video game fired up.
2:06.0	And now it's time to party.
