This happened one summer night when I was living alone during university.

When I went to visit a friend, he was burning some incense at home.

I thought it was pretty cool and wanted to

try it myself, so I stopped by an Asian-style grocery store to grab some, and then lit it

once I got home. Gradually, the smell of incense filled the room, but it was kind of

different to what I had imagined, so I put it out. I realized I didn't really like incense

in the first place. I opened the window to let some air in, then sat on the veranda,

watching the cars go by while I waited. Suddenly, I looked at my shadow being cast in the room,

but it was moving in a direction that it shouldn't

have been able to, like it was being lit up from behind.

I thought that maybe it was because of some car headlights in front of me, but there were

no cars passing by at that moment.

What the hell? I thought.

And then the shadow that was shaped like a person suddenly moved towards the veranda and then disappeared into the darkness.

It was almost Obong, so perhaps I had confused something by lighting incense.

I haven't lit any since then again.
