Transmitting from the Mojave Wilderness in Joshua Tree, California, now is the time for Desert Oracle Radio, the voice of the desert.

The challenge when Teresa asked me to do this is come tell scary stories about Wonder Valley the challenge was

everybody who was here would know all the scary stories about Wonder Valley

they may even have committed most of them.

So I'm kind of going through all my files now.

They know that one.

They know that one.

Ah.

So hopefully you won't know all of them.

There are 900 people who live in Wonder Valley, according to the census.

I've never seen more than about 50.

And that was once at the palms.

So I don't know about the other 850. There was a interview with Max Rossi, the pastor,

at what church I don't remember. He was trying to sound nice, but if you listen to it with scary music, it kind of sounded

like a horror movie trailer.

As he said, this is a great place to run away from something.

From a bad relationship, from debt, from bad parents, from fears.

People can run away into the desert and hide quite well.

And I thought, I might want to try out that guy's church.

Because it's, it sounded more self-aware than what you often hear from a pulpit.

And then I did look him up and it turns out he travels a lot

and he's not always at the church here
