And now, onto the night's story.

It appears Summers decided to dig in his heels and stay awhile this year.

We're well into October, but the thermometer outside Henry's kitchen window is still

hidden in the mid-80s, so what Henry first, who has a drag-ass summer, on the back porch

clear to the edge of the horizon, the world's teetering on the brink of a great, sweeping renewal.

Somewhere up around the next bend is a hard frost, waiting to coat the rooftops with

a crystalline blanket of ice, but that day hasn't come just yet.

For now, we're resigned to continue sweating it out beneath the waning sun of a drag-ass

summer.

The crops have been harvested, the barn has been freshly painted, and a team of roofers

finished reshingling the old farmhouses a few weeks ago.

With these last few tasks in the bag, Henry's just about ready to call it quits on the
