Among the signatories was America's then Secretary of State, John Kerry.

I am reminded of Nelson Mandela's very simple words.

It always seems impossible until it is done.

And while it isn't done yet, today we are on the march.

The pact aims to limit global warming to 1.5 or 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

And while America left the agreement under President Trump,

President elect Joe Biden has renewed the country's commitment to it.

This weekend, world leaders are gathering for a summit to assess the treaty's progress

and take further action before a major conference in Glasgow next year.
