As hard as it is, and of course we have deep compassion and deep empathy.

There are times we even weep with our children.

How many times do we weep for our children?

But one of the most important things that can ever happen to us

is that you and I still default to a happy heart.

Because the best thing we can do for them

is to let them see someone who really does have some joy.

I'm gonna need you to get out every one of your points so far because I need to hear

them.

Number one is what?

Happy is not bad in the Bible.

And so next time you hear someone act like it is, then you're able to, in the sweetest way

possible, in the most winsome

way possible, sprinkled with salt, letting your words be gracious.

You're able to say, I gotta tell you something, there really is a place for happy in the

Bible and really one element of joy is even that it is quite all right to feel quite happy in the Lord Jesus.

Happy is not bad in the Bible.

Number two, we've got a gospel responsibility to rebel against our misery.

I want to know something when misery creeps up on us and we say to ourselves, you know what,

that's not my birthright.

Misery is not my birthright in Christ.
