Summary

I’m joined by Leslie Grant, host of Interstates and Heartbreak, to discuss taking breaks & staying in touch with exes. We chat about whether or not taking a break can work, what situations would allow for it to work, and when a break is just a precursor to a breakup. We discuss giving someone a second chance, criteria for being friends with an ex, whether or not you should text your ex on their birthday, and tips for dating in LA.

Hey guys, it's Lana and welcome back for another episode of seeing other people.

0:13.1

I don't know if anybody else is feeling like this, but to me, it seems like right now is

0:19.0

the storm before the calm of the holiday season.

0:22.7

Like, I literally am in a three-week span. I'm at week three of three, to be clear, we're almost

0:29.3

through, of no-joke 21 recordings. And part of that is my own doing because I have a lot of

0:36.1

traveling coming up, but it's like everybody's

0:39.2

just trying to get everything done now. You know, we have, we just had Halloween. We have Thanksgiving

0:45.8

coming up. People just want to get things done. And it's really freaking stressful. Like, oh my goodness,

0:52.3

I'm having such a hard time balancing, you know, work and my sanity.

0:59.6

To the point where I've started doing this thing where I'm calling it, this thing, it's not an

1:04.2

official thing, but in order to kind of cope with all of it, I'm trying to do two phone-free

1:09.9

activities a day in order to just like stay a little

1:13.3

sane and not spend all of my time working and on social media. I've been, you know, going to a

1:20.5

Pilates class or a workout class, not because I want to work out, but literally because it forces me to

1:25.3

not be on my phone. Like I will leave the phone in the locker room or leave it at my apartment, which actually isn't good because I need to, like, check in with my barcode. So I don't think they're a fan of when I leave it at my apartment, but it's just like 45 minutes of not looking at my phone. And it's been so nice. Other phone-free activities that I've been doing, I've gotten

1:44.4

back into coloring, my adult coloring book obsession, loving that. Even like I've been reading a lot more.

1:52.0

I'm currently reading. Carrie Soto is back. The new Taylor Jenkins reads book. Taylor,

1:56.7

Jake and read? Taylor Jenkins read. Reads? Read? I i don't know but i've been reading it um and enjoying

2:02.2

that and even like i'm literally considering watching a show a phone free activity where i just

2:10.1

leave my phone in the other room or leave my phone in the charger and i'm fully watching the show i don't

2:14.3

care if i'm looking at another screen i just need to be not on my phone. So that's kind of where I'm at of, you know, trying to stay sane and prioritize my mental health
