Welcome to the Storytellers Live podcast where women share personal stories of God's love.

0:10.5

I'm Robin and I'm here with Katie and Lindy.

0:13.0

And today we are bringing you one of our first stories from a live gathering in a year.

0:18.3

So excited to have those live gatherings back.

0:22.7

Yes. And so today we have Katie from Auburn, Alabama, and we are going to do something a little bit different. As Katie shares her story,

0:27.9

she touches on so many things from parenting special needs children to infidelity in marriage,

0:34.6

to having this ideal of perfectionism and a perfect family and a perfect

0:39.2

plan for her life. And something that she said in the end during the question and answer time was so

0:44.2

0:48.6

you to know as we start with it that those are the things she's walked through in life. So the

0:52.9

question to her was, how do you

0:55.5

suffer well? What does it look like to walk through so many difficulties? And you're going to

1:00.8

hear her answer, and we do feel like it really sets up her entire story. Everybody's case,

1:05.5

1:17.4

to be more beautiful, and I want the person to be around me more, and I want them to like me more

1:22.7

or whatever. And I think one thing I've learned is if we can focus on Jesus and becoming more like him,

1:29.2

he will satisfy all those needs that might not be being met by somebody else.

1:34.1

And he will transform us into a different person.

1:38.0

And we don't necessarily need another person to complete us.

1:41.2

And so that was really maybe focusing on myself and my relationship with Jesus and not

1:46.1

trying to fix anything that I couldn't fix. Other people, we can't fix other people, even if we want to.
