1:03.2	Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.
1:06.8	It seems like nothing in America is quite as American as baseball.
1:12.8	In fact, Americans, big and small, young and old, gather by the thousands across our
1:19.4	nation to watch baseball games every year.
1:22.4	Popcorn and hot dogs and the song, take me out to the ball game, all come to mind when
1:28.1	we think about this beloved sport, baseball.
1:32.2	Although my family did not have a TV when I was growing up, I do remember going with my
1:37.6	dad to watch the 1987 World Series on TV while we were visiting my grandfather in the
1:45.4	nursing home, our state's team, the Minnesota twins won that year.
1:51.2	And I have loved baseball ever since.
1:55.3	But how long ago did the love of baseball begin in our country?
2:01.3	Well, I've told you all quite a few stories about the American Civil War, which nearly
2:09.0	tore our nation in half.
2:11.3	That war took place in the 1860s about a century and a half ago.
