The Dark Web. Even if it sounds bad. It's not the internet we use.

It's a place where people like crooks and

child pornographers hang out. But in reality, some say we've gotten it all wrong. You have to

think out of the box on this one. Hey, thanks for listening. I'm Kim Commando. This is the second

episode in our in-depth podcast about the dark web. In episode one, we talked about how Crooks can take your private information and make it public,

and about how the bad guys can use the dark web to hide from law enforcement.

Now, we're talking to a prominent Hollywood documentary and filmmaker who says the media is doing what it does best.

They fill our heads with misinformation.

We've been spoon fed a mythological lie by the media. And, you know, I'm not a conspiracy

theorist, and I think that that's largely to do with money and that that, you know, creating

this sort of hoodie-wearing miscreant, which is what we've kind of gotten

from the media in many of the stories about technology, you know, even if it's the head of a giant

technology company, they're still portrayed as these kind of monsters.

And that's, I just think, a sexier story to tell, I think, that people, that creates drama and it creates this boogieman.

But it isn't true.

His name, Alex Winter, probably best known for playing Bill Preston.

In the 1989 film, Bill and Ted's excellent adventure.

But he's also recently directed the film, The Deep Web.
