Summary

Today's episode is the first of two on the tactics of the accuser, Satan, the ancient serpent who is the devil. Spiritual warfare is real, and as C. S. Lewis wrote, Christians tend to either hardly consider the devil's power or obsess over his power and activity. Neither of these perspectives are helpful or biblical. Jon and Justin consider this and then talk at length about perhaps the first of Satan's tactics against the saints: accusation. He seeks to rob us of the peace, rest, and hope that is ours in Christ. He seeks to cause us to question whether God is really our Father and whether Christ is really our savior. Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin talk more about the reality of spiritual warfare, the accusations of Satan, the sufficiency of Christ, and how this relates to the mission of the kingdom of Christ.

0:12.0	The accuser, of course, is Satan, the ancient serpent who is the devil, who is the great accuser of the brother.
0:18.0	Satan is real, spiritual warfare is real. Often in the church,
0:22.4	we don't think about these things well. We tend to make one of two opposite errors. We either act
0:26.6	like Satan doesn't exist or we obsess over Satan and the work of the demonic realm. Neither of
0:34.7	those places are a good place to be. Today, John and I are going to begin our time thinking about how Satan does accuse the saints and seek to rob us of peace and rest
0:42.8	and joy and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ and how this affects us and makes us ineffective
0:47.8	in the cause of the kingdom of Christ. And then next week we're going to pivot the conversation
0:52.0	to look more toward the ways Satan tempts us and also distracts us with things that aren't necessarily bad, but also hinder us in the mission and the cause of the kingdom of Christ.
