Only a couple of weeks left before playing real football and we can get out of previews and start talking about matchups and things like that,

but we are still here. Northern Illinois is the team on the docket today. Skyler Cassellis

from the Northern Star covers the Huskies up there. And my first question is we've got to look

back at last season. Obviously the historic win over Notre Dame is what stands out. Northern Illinois

follows out up the next week with a

loss to Buffalo. And it just makes me wonder, why didn't this team take off from that win and

become a top 25 team, maybe even a team that challenge for a playoff berth? Is it just because

there's so much parity in the Mac? Or was that just catching lightning in a bottle there at Notre Dame Stadium? I mean, I guess you could make the argument. It was a little bit of both. I mean, you make the point that there is a lot of parity in the Mac no matter of the season, and it's just a tough conference to be in and be associated with. And as far as just, you know, what happened in that Buffalo game, I think it was a mixture of a lot of elements. I mean, I wouldn't say the Notre Dame win was totally lighting in the bottle, but obviously everything that needed to go right went right that game. And after that, I think they just, team just maybe a big guy in their own heads, maybe just got a bit complacent. And it's just a lot of self-inflicted errors there.

And that seemed that was a common trend for a lot of our losses.

Toledo, loss on homecoming, loss on the road at all states. It's just one of the biggest things this team is able to do is like they can pull off the

improbable, but they can also shoot themselves in the foot.

So, I mean, it's a bit of a double-edged short, I guess is the best way to put it.
