merit and care and disappearance were investigated and dismissed. The Dominion News was sued for malicious

prosecution at a cost of $200,000, a loss that eventually forced its managing editor into retirement.

88 days after merit and care and disappearance, the headless bodies were finally discovered 10

miles south of the city limits, and an unknown person appeared in a photograph of the grave site
