Today, we are going to jump right into a subject that I can't believe I haven't discussed before.

And it was one of the first on the list for when we started season two. And it is uh it's crazy because this subject in

and of itself could go on and may in fact be multiple parts because it is that expansive and it is

that impactful i mean it really uh hit comic books and changed comic books,

continuing to the comic books that we are picking up today,

and that is sword and sorcery fantasy comic books.

This is a genre that has dominated for years and years and years,

and it started really the modern-day sword-sourcery

fantasy comic book movement began with Marvel's decision to publish Conan the Barbarian.

Now, the cool thing is that fantasy, because Conan sets off basically an arms race in terms of sword

and sorcery styled characters and heroes throughout the comic books industry that runs for

about a solid decade and then starts to peter off somewhat.

But again, when you realize that Marvel held the

license from 1970 to 2000 on Conan, okay, and eventually Dark Horse took it over, and Marvel didn't

actually publish Conan Comics for the last couple of years of that deal. But for, I mean,

that's a 30-year stretch. And if you are not aware of the impact Conan had, especially

when sales took off and we're going to really get into the teeth of what turned for Conan,

because it was wobbly there at first. It launched like a rocket, kind of found its way,

and then just skyrocketed and eventually became multiple families of titles

but but really the licensing alone the licensing on conan was was crazy and again a way to

judge and equate how popular this character is and this is long before the swartzenegger movie
