Summary

Swing for the fences! Don't leave anything on the table, give it your best shot, and go full bore ahead.

Swing for the Fences! - Aggressively Pursue the Urgent & Important

A single decision or event can change the course of your life. Regardless of life, philosophy, or religion, this is true.

When presented with a big opportunity, you need to swing for the fences. Hyperfocus your life and efforts on this.

This is when urgent and important overlap. This is when you put your sleep, family life, and other things on the backburner to aggressively pursue the opportunity.

You don't get the outcome if you don't swing for the fences. You don't even get to swing for the fences if you don't swing at all - if you fail to show up.

Swing for the Fences Regardless of the Outcome

This does not mean you succeed. You may fail. You will fail often.

Another opportunity will come. Work hard, prepare yourself for those opportunities, and be ready to show up and wing for the fences when the opportunity falls in your lap.

Don't leave life with regrets about what you did not seek, what you failed to try.

0:43.2

and been sneezing this morning. Let's tell my producer I hope I get through it and

0:46.8

not sneeze. So this will probably be a pretty quick one this morning and

0:49.8

really it's a thing that I have noticed and really learned from my little brother

0:54.9

Chris so there's some personal anecdotes and personal stories in here. I want to

0:59.7

talk today about swinging for the fences. Because I've noticed that this is maybe a piece

1:06.6

that is often missed because of how often scary it is

1:11.1

to actually swing for the fences when I'm talking about. and so I want to give a background of some stories and it's

1:17.5

important because where this relates back to the previous couple of podcasts that I've done is that we swing for the fences

1:25.6

divorced of the outcome. Like we do everything we can to when we get the opportunity

1:31.2

that is an opportunity that can change our life we have to take the opportunity that can change our life,

1:37.1

and swing for the fences.

1:38.8

And so I can look back over our time at Barbaroologic and in my career of business ownership of now 16, 17 years.

1:47.8

And I really think one of the big reasons we've been successful is that when it came time to push all the chips to the middle of the table or to swing for the fences, we were able to do that.

1:58.0

And I've talked about that on previous episodes where I think some people are just not wired entrepreneurially enough.
