Welcome into episode 444 of the skate podcast.

I am Brian D. Felice, joined by Bridget Pru and Scott McLaughlin following a long holiday

Memorial Day weekend.

I hope the two of you had a good time.

I hope our listeners had a nice time.

And Bridgett and Scott, we ended last week with a GM mode where the three of us tried to put

our collective hats on and utilize the AFP projections that were given to us online and follow the

salary cap to the best of our abilities. There's definitely some opinions from listeners on our conclusion there.

And there's also some opening shifts we wanted to get to today as well.

There are some Bruins related news items to get to.

So I'll throw it over to you guys now for opening shifts.

Yeah, I'll go first because I think the biggest story is Jeremy Swamondon's play at the World Championships,

helping to lead the United States to their first, surprisingly, their first gold medal at the World Championships since

1933. Swamen, early in the tournament split starts with Joey Decord. We talked, you know, this is probably two weeks ago at this point, about the rough game

he had against Norway, where he gave up five goals in the third period.

U.S. still ended up winning that game in overtime.

Since then, Swamen ran with the starting job, took it away from Decord, and was really good the rest of the tournament, made five more starts, won them all, did not give up more than two goals in any of them, and caps it off with a 25 safe shutout against Switzerland in the gold medal game.

And, you know, look, is Switzerland a international hockey power?

No, but they had a good team in this tournament.

They really beat up on some of the lesser teams and ended up in the gold medal game.
