It's actually a question I've been wrestling with, maybe not quite in these words, but Susan's

email has caused me to think a little more deeply about it, and I'm going to answer her provocative

question during today's 10-minute walk. Hi, I'm Dave. Welcome to walking as fitness. This is a podcast that provides a little added motivation

Recently I did Myrtle Beach Week.

Hope you heard that, picked some different tourist attractions

along the Grand Strand here in Myrtle Beach and gave you a guided tour. And one of those places,

the Market Common, which is where Ava and I live. And I'm not going to repeat the whole

history, but this used to be the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. And every now and then, I'll head to the

back part of Market Common where some of the old Myrtle Beach Air Force Base buildings still exist.

Most of them have been torn down.

There are a few that are still here, but it's actually more than a few.

And there's one right across the street.

And I have no idea what it used to be, but a few years ago, they turned it into a restaurant and it's 1220, shine 1229.

It's a restaurant that Dave and I go to fairly frequently and every time we're sitting in that restaurant,

I'm thinking, what was this like 30, 40, 50 years ago?

What was happening in this building when this was an active Air Force base?

I don't know the answer.

And I may never know the answer, but I still ask the question,

anyhow, it's across the street.
