Just like there are people who believe

that they are justified because they had decided for Christ.

Not because Christ died for them on the cross.

Well, that was good, but because they made the decision.

February 12, 1717,

a furious debate broke out in the Church of Scotland.

A group of pastors had been reading a book called

The Marrow of Modern Divinity.

It conflicted with some common beliefs in the church at that time

and it led to what became known as the Marrow Controversy.
