Welcome back to Gabbing with Gibb.

Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't just Summer House that had a major week on TV this week.

The season 50 finale of Survivor was also this week, it aired on Wednesday,

and as someone who has watched Survivor since season one, episode one, when I was

just like eight years old, this is a big deal. It was one of the better seasons and years from my

perspective, despite all of the annoying twists and the final four not being ideal. But there

was still a lot to discuss from the three-hour finale broadcast. So to help me break it all down is

Lovell Holder, a filmmaker and the author of the novel The Book of Luke, which is all about

a fictional competition reality show. And I had read the Book of Luke earlier this year. I loved it.

I posted about it on my story, and then his rep reached out to pitch me for him to come on the

podcast, to talk about it and reality TV.

And it turns out that Lovell is also a huge Survivor fan.

So this felt like the perfect time to have him on the show, chat about Survivor 50, break down the finale, talk about that huge flub where Jeff Probst announced the loser of a challenge on the show before the challenge had even aired.

Super weird.

And kind of some of the complicated feelings that fans have about the show right now.

We also talked about competition shows and, of course, his book and some of the research and

perspective that went into writing a fictional book about reality TV.

So today's another rare non-Bravo episode, but I just had to take the opportunity to chat

about Survivor, which I don't normally get to do.

And you also got an extra episode about Summer House yesterday.

So, you know, your cup overfloweth.
